Tours
What is a Tour?
All Tours are non-competitive and designed to be fun, sociable occasions that encourage members to gather together and drive their pre-war cars, hopefully in good weather, on a pre-defined route or on a route of their choice to visit local beauty spots, interesting buildings or attractions.A typical tour will take in a rural route, at a leisurely pace, through beautiful countryside and may visit a number of locations such as a Steam Fair, Aircraft Museum, Water Mill or Vineyard. A suitable lunch stop is always included!
Where are our Tours?
Locations vary, but areas we have visited in the past include Suffolk, Hertfordshire, Shropshire, Kent, Yorkshire, North Wales, Norfolk, and The Wye Valley. In 2020, the VSCC entered into a partnership with Scenic Car Tours Ltd and we are now able to offer 'exclusive' VSCC tours to overseas destinations as well as domestic (subject to numbers). These social tours include ferry crossings (where appropriate) and accommodation and a road book is provided. We encourage members to put forward their own suggestions and calls for expressions of interest as such a wide range of tours are available.
Why enter a Tour?
Tours are a great social occasion and a very good way to start to get involved with the VSCC and actively use your Pre-war car. Some thoughts from Club Members:
‘Well we had a great day out - lovely and varied scenery (ditto cars), excellent pub lunch, friendly folks, and a super barbecue to round all off. Many thanks to all who worked so hard to make it go like clockwork.’ Giles Hedley
‘I should like to add our thanks to all who helped to make a most enjoyable event. There is definitely a place for tours as well as navigation rallies and the scatter tour worked very well for us. The barbecue also gave a great opportunity for socialising at the end before going our separate ways. We even missed the Silverstone traffic on the way home!’ Neil Thorp
‘What a great day out. With the organisers, we made around 50 cars showing how popular these excellent tours are becoming. For those of us that know the area covered well, we went to places we didn't know existed - the true test of a successful Tour although paying 30p to enter Linconshire was a bit much . I asked the bloke in the Toll Booth for 1928 rates but he wasn't keen. Not competitive in any way, of course, but Malcolm & I recon we won the 'Who can put the hood up fastest' competition when the rain arrived at the Bottle & Glass.' Steve Jones
