2013 Edition of the VSCC Pre-war Sports-Cars Team Relay Race returns to Pembrey this August!

The ever-popular VSCC Pre-war Sports-Car Team Relay Race will be held on the evening of Saturday 17 August at Pembrey. As part of the Club’s ever-growing Welsh Speed Weekend, the event will be an exciting finale to Saturday’s track action, following the conclusion of the Sprint, and a great warm-up for Sunday’s Hawthorn Memorial Trophies Race Meeting programme. A truly unique event and at only £300 per team, it offers true value for money.

This year’s LC&ES Summer Navigational Rally and Tour takes place this weekend, based at The Old Sarum Aerodrome, Wiltshire, one of the oldest First World War airfields still operating, and an attractive venue with camping and facilities.

The 2013 VSCC Race Season has seen two stellar meetings thus far with our successes at Silverstone in April and Cadwell earlier this month. Attention now turns to yet another favourite on the Club’s calendar of events, with our annual visit to Mallory Park for the Bob Gerard Memorial Trophy Meeting on Sunday 21 July. But hurry – entries will close soon (Wednesday 3 July) so if you haven’t got yours in yet then act now!

Bugatti Restorer Nets the Prestigious ‘Williams Trophy’ in Birthday Bugatti Drive.
Charles Knill-Jones channelled the power advantage that Nick Mason’s 1927 Bugatti Type 35B had over his rivals to win the ‘Williams Trophy Race’ at the VSCC’s Shuttleworth and Nuffield Trophies Race Meeting at Cadwell Park on Saturday. Charles’s drive in the race was his 40th Birthday present from the car’s owner, Mason. Full of enthusiasm to take the glory in this year’s exceptional event which had drawn a record 17 Bugatti racers to Lincolnshire, Charles out-dragged his nearest rival, Geraint Owen in a similar machine, off the line and lead to the flag in a composed and precise style, un-twitched by the ever looming threat of Robert Spencer who finished second in a later 1939 Type 35B.
On a par with the TT, inspirational racing opens the VSCC meeting at Cadwell Park tomorrow!

Baxter sets Harewood Pace and takes new Class Record

This year’s Harewood Hill Climb was always going to be a thrilling event with local hill climb ace, James Baxter at the wheel of his new Sprints and Hill Climb tool, ERA R4A. James put all his knowledge to excellent use and shaved 7 hundreths of a second off the class record that Robert Cobden set back in 2008 in his Riley Falcon Special, with a time of 68.18.

Vintage Sports-Car Club members will be in action at Harewood Hill Climb tomorrow, Saturday 1 June, for the annual ‘Classic and Vintage Meeting’. Over one hundred entrants will be flying up the 1,584 yard Yorkshire course in a huge variety of vehicles from a Pre-war ERA to a Jaguar C Type.
