Academics and Automobiles this August Bank Holiday Weekend
Thursday 27 August 2015
A splendid line-up of over twenty-five Pre-war cars will gather at Mansfield College this Sunday for the Club’s 7th Annual Oxford Concours & Lunch event.
The Club has again been granted permission to use Mansfield College for a Social, Lunch and Desirability event on Sunday 30 August, organised once more by Club Treasurer, Brian Fidler. Participants will arrive from mid-morning, and will assemble in the ‘Quad’ of the historic College right in the centre of the city.
The Concours itself is one not of elegance or poshness, but of condition and originality, judged by all the participants and based on ‘which car I would most like to take home’, with an engraved Tankard presented to the Winner, plus a second one for the “Ladies’ Choice” (all very Vintage). This will be followed by lunch served in the wonderful College Chapel, with plenty of time thereafter to explore some of the other colleges and the City’s other sights before setting off home.
Representatives from Alfa Romeo, Aston Martin, Bentley, Bugatti, Rolls-Royce, Talbot, Vauxhall and more will be on display with over sixty Club Members and guests due to enjoy this increasingly popular social event on the Club’s Summer calendar.
