Vintage Variety for the VSCC Norfolk Tour this weekend
Friday 24 July 2015
Following a year out last year, the Club’s Norfolk Tour returns to the calendar this weekend with almost 50 Pre-war cars representing almost two dozen celebrated marques heading to Nelson’s County tomorrow for this popular social event.
After years at the helm, Nigel Stennett-Cox stands down for a well earned rest this season, as fellow Club Member, Stuart Halsall takes on the role of Clerk of the Course. The day will start and finish in Attleborough, situated on the A11 between Thetford and Norwich, with different start and finish venues in the town.
Participants will enjoy a fantastic route on minor country roads (with only short distances on busy road where they cannot be avoided), which is divided into three parts. The first section of approximately 20 miles will take them to the 100th Bomber Group Memorial Museum, where crews will enjoy the well presented museum and facilities. The second section is approximately 40 miles to the day’s Lunch Stop at High Lodge in the Thetford Forest, where picnic or the onsite Restaurant will provide much-needed refuelling before the final section, an approximate 20 miles drive to the finish at Attleborough.
The list of participants boasts a fantastic array of cars from the day’s oldest entry in Tom Boyd’s 1908 Maudslay 17 to John Halfpenny’s 1939 Jaguar SS 100, with all manner of Touring and Sports-based machinery in between. Amongst the wonderful examples of Alvis, Aston Martin, Bentley, Humber, Lanchester, MG, Packard, Riley, Sunbeam, Talbot, Vauxhall and more on show, Past President Tony Stephens bring his trusty Trojan Utility across from Buckinghamshire, whilst Bulletin Editor, John Staveley is sure to enjoy a ‘local’ day out in his Bugatti Type 44.
The Club would like to wish all those taking part, as well as Stuart Halsall and his team of volunteers a wonderful day of Vintage motoring.
