The VSCC head to Shelsley Walsh for the MAC Vintage Hill Climb this weekend

Ever the highlight of the Club’s events calendar, the Midland Automobile Club’s Shelsley Walsh Hill Climb plays host to the Vintage Sports-Car Club this weekend, bringing together two of today’s most celebrated names in Pre-war motorsport on Sunday 5 July.
Another capacity entry of over 150 Vintage and PVT Racing and Sports-Cars will descend on the historic Worcestershire venue – the oldest motor sport venue in continuous use in the world – for the ‘Vintage and Post Vintage Thoroughbred Meeting’, traditionally run by the MAC on behalf of the Club.
The Pre-war classes have attracted the usual array of wonderful machinery with many of the Club’s regular Speed competitors in attendance to continue their busy seasons. A whole host of revered marques are represented, such as Alvis, Austin, Bentley, Bugatti, ERA, Frazer Nash, Lagonda, Lea-Francis, MG, Morgan, Riley and more with a host of famed Shelsley ‘Specials’ amongst the line-up, such as David Leigh’s ex-Basil Davenport GN Spider, the Becke Powerplus of Mike Gibbs and Winston Teague’s GN Wasp.
Winner of the VSCC Speed Trials at the Brooklands Double Twelve Festival, Terry Crabb competes ERA R12C and will find a familiar challenge in his fellow Bourne-challengers in Mac Hulbert’s R4D and James Baxter, piloting Nick Topliss’s R4A. The trio are likely to contest for Fastest Time of the Day, alongside the likes of Ian Baxter’s Alta 61 IS, Julian Grimwade’s Frazer Nash Norris Special and the aero-engined Amilcar Hispano Special of Tom Walker.
The action starts with practice runs from 9.15am, followed by competitive timed runs in programme order with full commentary, finishing at approximately 5.30pm. Tickets are available on the day at £20.00 per person (accompanied Under 16s go free).
Shelsley Walsh is located approximately 10 miles north-west of Worcester and 9 miles south-west of Stourport-on-Severn (Sat Nav: WR6 6RP).
