Entries Closing Soon for VSCC Oulton Park Race Meeting
Friday 26 June 2015
The VSCC returns to Oulton Park next month with our Hawthorn Memorial Trophies Meeting on Saturday 18 July. Entries close soon but with availability still across the day's grids, there is still time to submit your entries and join us for this special event!
The Club has enjoyed a long and celebrated history at the venue, dating back to the acclaimed events of the 1960s and, in more recent years, has cultivated a strong working relationship with current owners, MotorSport Vision and their stable of first-class circuits, including annual events at Cadwell Park and Snetterton. With the support of Jonathan Palmer and his MSV team, we are excited to return to Oulton this summer and bring Pre-war motorsport back to the passionate enthusiasts of the North-West following a 4-year absence.
And don’t forget that we will also be hosting our Vintage Club Day on the Sunday, with plenty of activities for the whole family and with free Camping available to everyone onsite, why not join us for what promises to be a fantastic weekend (see below for more details).
Saturday’s Racing Programme will include a number of highlights, with a packed schedule of ten races on the exciting Fosters Circuit, including prestigious Trophy races for Vintage Racing Cars, Pre-war and Historic Racing Cars and Pre-war Sports-Cars. In addition, the day will see the second of the Club’s Premier Cru Racing events, showcasing the pioneering years of Grand Prix Racing, and also the acclaimed Hawthorn International Trophy for 1950s Sports Racing Cars.
Alongside the ever-popular Pre-war Short Scratch and Handicap formats, those drivers of Pre-war Sports-Cars are also encouraged to enter the celebrated VSCC Team Relay Race, which comes to Oulton after two successful years at Pembrey. STOP PRESS - all entrants will earn a point towards the Club’s Intermarque Trophy for their respective manufacturers.
The event will follow the same format as those recent editions, with the Race lasting 90 minutes for Teams of three drivers in two or three cars (one car may be shared). Each team will require a Team Captain who may or may not be one of the drivers.
Whilst ‘single marque’ teams are encouraged as this always adds extra ‘spice’ to the competition, they are by no means mandatory. Indeed, if you are interested in taking part but are not affiliated with an existing Team don’t dismay – contact the Competition Department now and we will take your details. It is highly likely we can match you to other individual entrants to form additional teams (such line-ups have performed admirably in past editions, including Winners on Handicap last year!)
Don’t own a Sports-Car? We are looking for our Judges for the day too so why not volunteer your services – it’s a great way to get involved and there is nothing quite like the camaraderie in the Pit Lane of the VSCC Team Race.
Following the conclusion to the race, all the day’s Competitors, Marshals and Guests are invited to gather for the Team Race Awards Presentation, followed by a pay-on-the-day BBQ for all (£10pp), kindly hosted by the circuit, with live music and footage from the Club’s Film Archives providing entertainment for the evening.

Vintage Club Day (Sunday 19 July)
The VSCC will open the doors to Oulton Park to Members and Non-Members alike, as we host a relaxed ‘Garden Party’ day of family entertainment – not unlike last year’s 80th Anniversary Public Showground Day in Peterborough. Whilst restrictions at the circuit mean there will be no ‘racing’, there will be plenty of activities to enjoy both on and off-track. Amongst the day’s highlights will be two main events:
The Cheshire Life Concours
A long-standing tradition at VSCC Oulton Park events since the 1960s, the Concours for Pre-war cars moves to Sunday this year, and will include the popular Parade Laps for all participants and the presentation of the prestigious Trophy.
Oulton Park AutoSolo
Following the Club’s first AutoSolo event during the 80th Anniversary Week last year, we bring this ‘new’ discipline to Oulton Park. A popular introduction to competitive motorsport, this is an ‘all forwards’ Driving Test using numbered markers and, with no reversing, has proved popular with old cars and drivers alike.
Full details for both events, including Regulations and Entry Forms (including Online Entry facilities) are now available at the Vintage Club Day event page on the Club website next week (CLICK HERE), where you can find details of the other activities planned for the day.
