An Invitation to the our Vintage Club Day at Oulton Park this July
Tuesday 30 June 2015
All Vintage and Classic Car enthusiasts are cordially invited to attend the Vintage Sports-Car Club’s Vintage Club Day at Oulton Park on Sunday 19 July, a wonderful ‘Garden Party’ and perfect complement to the highly anticipated return of our celebrated Pre-war and Historic Racing programme to the circuit.
Following the Club’s prestigious Hawthorn Memorial Trophies Race Meeting followed by BBQ and Jazz Band entertainment on Saturday, the VSCC will open the doors to the idyllic Oulton Park to one and all on Sunday as we celebrate with a host of motoring and other Vintage themed activities both on and off the track for the whole family.
Long associated with VSCC events at the venue, the Cheshire Life Concours makes a welcome return as a feature of Sunday’s programme, including Parade Laps around the famous circuit for those taking part and the presentation of the historic silverware in association with the celebrated local publication. Those not entered will not miss out, however, with Vintage Bus Rides throughout the day offering everyone a chance to experience the Racer’s ‘point of view’, and opportunities for other Car Club Displays to take to the track as well.
We also welcome the Wolseley Register, who will be there all weekend celebrating their Centenary Anniversary, culminating in an hour of track time with cars attempting to clock up a cumulative total of 100 miles on the Sunday.
Another headline event of the day will be the VSCC AutoSolo, taking place on the venue’s Rally Stage. A relatively new motorsport discipline often aimed at newcomers, this entails a number of simple ‘all-forwards’ Driving Tests and is therefore much gentler on Pre-war Cars and their drivers, and offers a glimpse of other type of motorsport our Club hosts throughout the season.
In a similar vein, we also bring an experienced team of Trials Competitors, who will be carrying out demonstrations on Oulton’s ‘Off-Road’ course. One of foremost motoring disciplines, the VSCC has held Pre-war Car Trials since the 1930s and they remain some of the most popular events within the Club. Come and see these ‘mud-pluggers’ in action as they show off their off-roading skills in their 80-year old machinery.
For those more active amongst you, be sure to bring your bicycles as we host fun ‘races’ for all ages on track; with Vintage models encouraged.
Away from the track activity, there will be plenty to see and do. Explore the gathering of Pre-war and Classic Cars throughout the site, with several Car Club Displays anticipated. Whether you’re looking for that all-important nut or bolt, or perhaps the perfect motoring-themed gift, the Trade Village and ‘Autojumble’ will undoubtedly have plenty to offer whilst a Vintage Fun Fair will be up and running all weekend, with MSV’s Treasure Hunt and Charity Stalls offering face-painting also to keep children of all ages entertained.
And it would not be a British Summer without the Pimm’s and Cream Tea Tent, with live Jazz music entertainment transporting us all to a golden era.
Advance Weekend Tickets are on sale now, priced at £15 for VSCC Members and Other Car Club Display Members or £18 for Non-Members (via MSV), offering a considerable saving on the £23 on the gate price.
For those planning to only attend on Sunday, entry is free, whilst we encourage as many as possible to come in their Pre-war or Pre-1970 Classic Car or other interesting vehicle, to add to the spirit of the day.
Don’t forget that Children Under 13 years old go free all weekend. And with limited Free Camping on site from Friday night, why not join us for a fun-filled Family weekend in Cheshire.
