The Vintage Sports-Car Club returns to Oulton Park for a Vintage Weekend this July
Tuesday 16 June 2015
Following a 4-year absence, the Vintage Sports-Car Club is delighted to make a highly-anticipated return to the wonderful rolling parkland of Oulton Park over the weekend of 18/19 July.
The Saturday will see the Club bring its ever-popular racing programme of Pre-war and Historic Racing and Sports-Cars to the Cheshire venue, in the form of our illustrious Hawthorn Memorial Trophies, whilst the additional attraction of a VSCC ‘Club’ Day on the Sunday, featuring all manner of other motoring and social activities, will ensure a fun-filled Vintage weekend the whole family can enjoy.
The Club has enjoyed a long and celebrated history at the venue, dating back to the acclaimed events of the 1960s and, in more recent years, cultivated a strong working relationship with current owners, MotorSport Vision and their stable of first-class circuits, including annual events at Cadwell Park and Snetterton. With the support of Jonathan Palmer and his MSV team, we are excited to return to Oulton this summer and bring Pre-war motorsport back to the passionate enthusiasts of the North-West.
The Racing Programme will include a number of highlights, with a packed schedule of ten races on the exciting Fosters Circuit, including prestigious Trophy races for Vintage Racing Cars, Pre-war and Historic Racing Cars, Pre-war Sports-Cars and 1950s Sports Racing Cars. In addition, the day will see the second of the Club’s Premier Cru Racing events, showcasing the pioneering years of Grand Prix Racing of the 1920s and 30s with a grid of original Pre-1941 Racing Cars from the likes of ERA, Alta, Alfa Romeo, Bugatti and Maserati, whilst the day will come to a fitting finale with the thrills of the ever-popular Pre-war Sports-Car Team Relay Race.
Following the conclusion to the day’s racing festivities, Competitors, Marshals and Guests will gather for the Team Race Awards Presentation, followed by a pay-on-the-day BBQ for all, kindly hosted by the circuit, with live music and big-screen providing additional entertainment.
Sunday will see the VSCC ‘open their doors’ to Members and Non-Members alike, as we host a relaxed ‘Garden Party’ day of family entertainment. Whilst restrictions at the circuit mean there will be no ‘racing’, there will be plenty of activities to enjoy both on and off-track. Vintage Bus Rides will take place throughout the day, giving spectators a chance to experience a guided tour of the famous circuit whilst the traditional Concours event will also take place including Parade laps, with dozens of local Car Clubs expected to be on display. All are encouraged to bring their bicycles to take part in fun ‘races’ for all ages on track.
We also look forward to introducing some of the Club’s other Pre-war motorsport activities, with both an AutoSolo event and off-road Trials demonstrations taking place on site, whilst the well-populated Trade Village, Autojumble, Fairground Attractions, Treasure Hunt, Vintage Air Display, Charity stalls and much more will ensure a fun-filled weekend for the whole family.
Entries for both Concours and AutoSolo are open now (including Online Entry Facility for those with payment card registered with the Club). For more information CLICK HERE (click on the 'Competitors' tab).
Advance Weekend Tickets are on sale now, priced at £15 for VSCC Members and Other Car Club Display Members or £18 for Non-Members (via MSV), offering a considerable saving on the £23 on the gate price.
For those planning to only attend on Sunday, entry is free, whilst we encourage as many as possible to come in their Pre-war or Pre-1970 Classic Car or other interesting vehicle, to add to the spirit of the day.
Don’t forget that Children Under 13 years old go free all weekend. And with limited Free Camping on site from Friday night, why not join us for a fun-filled Family weekend in Cheshire.
