Entries Closing Soon for VSCC Cadwell Park Race Meeting
Tuesday 05 May 2015
Following the fantastic season opener at Silverstone a fortnight ago, there are now less than 3 weeks remaining to submit your entry for the next round, our Cadwell Park Race Meeting taking place on Sunday 7 June.
Although the VSCC and the venue were both founded in 1934, it was not until 29 August 1976 that the Club held its first meeting at the celebrated Lincolnshire venue which has since become one of the most popular events on the calendar.
Known today as the UK’s very own 2.2 mile ‘Nurburgring’, Cadwell‘s wonderful blend of twists and undulations are more often seen as a biker’s playground but nonetheless have proved ideally suited to our Pre-war and Historic Racing and Sports-Cars and a favourite amongst drivers and spectators through the years – the Club’s annual status as one of the circuit’s largest attendance for a car event can certainly attest to that. Above all, it is the Lincolnshire venue’s unparalleled combination of fantastic track, idyllic setting and relaxed paddock that continues to bring the VSCC and its racers back every year – Club motorsport as it should be!
The last few seasons have conjured up some nail-biting competition for the Club’s highly-prized Intermarque Trophy between Frazer Nash and Riley – those who attended our recent Annual Awards Dinner at Chateau Impney witnessed the growing ‘friendly’ rivalry first hand. We look forward to welcoming representatives of both badges to the Lincolnshire venue this year, as we host dedicated races for the ‘Chain-Gang’ and ‘Blue Diamond Brigade’.
The long-time traditional home of the annual Race for Frazer Nash and GN Cars, members of the FNCC will be no doubt be out in force at Cadwell again to compete in the ever-popular ‘Nash Race’, as well as a number of the other prestigious VSCC Trophy Races in the programme whilst we will also mark the 90th Anniversary of the 1925 Frazer Nashes. Following last year’s inaugural Riley Handicap Race at Pembrey, we are delighted to bring the event for the Coventry-based marque to Cadwell this year, where we are honoured to rename the race in memory of our dear friend, Garry Whyte, who raced his Riley 12/4 Special with the VSCC over several seasons and who sadly passed away last year.
The celebrated Spero & Voiturette Trophies Race is also back at Cadwell Park this year. Now into its sixth decade of competition, this prestigious Trophy Race, exclusively for the Club’s smaller capacity cars, is one of the most celebrated and historic events. The Spero Trophy is awarded to the first car up to 1100cc (or up to 750cc supercharged) and the Voiturette Trophy to the first un-supercharged car up to 750cc so we anticipate a fantastic grid of Austin, MG, Riley and other great marques of the Pre-war era.
Furthermore, although traditionally designated for Racing Cars, we are also delighted to accept entries for Sports-Cars of the appropriate capacities (either stripped or in road going trim with wings and lights) as well as supercharged cars up to 1100cc. There will be additional awards for both Sports-Cars (running in proper road going trim) or those supercharged cars over 750cc on offer even if they are not eligible for the named trophies.
In addition to these three races, our VSCC Shuttleworth and Nuffield Trophies Meeting will be another day of superb Vintage and Historic action not to be missed as we play host to a mouth-watering 10 races for Vintage and Historic Cars.
