Board structure
This is to advise you that Charles Ping and Andy Baker have been temporarily co-opted to the Board to cover the period between now and the next AGM. Alisdaire Lockhart has unfortunately decided to stand down, and Nick Topliss has taken on the role of Vice President, and so becomes an Officer of the Club, meaning that we are currently two directors down on our stated quota. These appointments will therefore now take us up to full strength.
We have a number of projects underway for which Charles and Andy have relevant professional skills to bring to our discussions. I have never worked with either, but both have forged excellent reputations for their contributions in the past, Charles as an elected Director, and Andy for his work on the Race & Speed Sub-Committee. They will stand down at the next AGM, but if they wish to put themselves forward for election they are of course perfectly entitled to, as is any member. We will have potentially 4 vacancies, the two that Charles and Andy are taking temporarily, plus Tania will be stepping down as a director, and Ian Standing will be at the end of his term. We would welcome applications from all corners of the Club, and I am happy to speak in confidence to anyone who might be interested in serving.
Finally, I would like to pay tribute to the work of Alisdaire. He has been tenacious in his focus to ensure that due process is rigorously followed, and has ensured that the voice of the rank and file member, especially those of mature years, is consistently heard around the table. I am sorry to bid him farewell, but delighted that he has agreed to remain in place as the Chair of the Membership Sub-Committee until the next AGM.
