Wednesday 12 September 2018
The Vintage Sports-Car Club is honoured to have been shortlisted in the 2018 Historic Motoring Awards for both Club of the Year and Race Series of the Year.
Having been crowned Club of the Year at the glittering 2017 awards ceremony in November last year, the Club are delighted to have once again been recognised for their contribution and commitment to the preservation of Vintage motorsport in the UK following another busy year of events up and down the country. In addition to their nomination for Club of the Year, the VSCC’s Formula Vintage Race Series has also been recognised and shortlisted for the Historic Motoring Awards’ Race Series of the Year category. Formula Vintage was introduced as the new mantra for the Club’s Race Championship in 2017, and since then the Series has gone from strength to strength, drawing more competitors and spectators to the thrilling circuit action. Featuring 5 exciting Rounds of Racing this year, the Club also hosted the inaugural Formula Vintage Festival at Donington Park which celebrated 80 years since the Club’s first standalone Race Meeting that took place at the prestigious venue in 1938.
Dave Salmon, the Club’s CEO, says, ‘These well-deserved nominations recognise the continued hard work and selfless commitment throughout the Club which help to ensure that Vintage motoring and Pre-war motorsport remain vibrant in challenging times for motor clubs and motorsports in general. All associated with the Vintage Sports-Car Club can be justifiably proud with making the shortlist in 2 categories.
Competition Secretary, Gemma Price, added, ‘The Formula Vintage brand was a brave step and one aimed at bringing our Racing to a wider more diverse audience whilst cherishing the motorsport history of the Club. Whilst there are always improvements to be made we are very pleased with how the series is developing’.
The VSCC are proud to be active in almost every aspect and discipline of Vintage motorsport, from Trials to Races, Driving Tests to Sprints, and everything in between. As the busy Speed and Race season draws to a close this Autumn, the Club is already gearing up for the beginning of the Winter Trials season, as well as its 2019 calendar, which will see their exciting 85th International Anniversary Celebration take place at Brands Hatch in August.
