BOARD OF DIRECTORS
John Lomas
I have been attending VSCC events with my late father Alan
since the early 1980’s, a mixture of travelling to Oulton Park wedged on the
tunnel between my parents in their Riley Imp and then navigating once I could
see over the dash.
Over the last seven years I have competed in various endurance rally events in Pre-war cars including four Monte Carlo Classique’s and two Flying Scotsman’s. Plus covering an average 8,000 miles a year in pre-war Riley’s – I am a firm believer in using our cars as intended.
I have committee experience with various other car clubs. Being on a committee means both listening to
members and their varied needs and wants, but also being able to be decisive and
take the right decisions for the long-term future of an organisation, however
difficult they may be.
Being ‘relatively young’ at 46 (!) I have a certain
understanding of what our younger members and non-members are looking for in
the club. Plus, through managing my
business social media I am versed with the positives and negatives it brings – it
is an area we increasingly must embrace and use to engage potential new
members.
