Dudley Sterry wins tough VSCC Pomeroy Trophy

Dudley Sterry won one of the toughest Pomeroy Trophy competitions in recent memory at a sub-zero Silverstone on Saturday 23 February. Renowned in motorsport circles as a tough event, this year’s Pom’ posed a stiff challenge to competitors and marshals as snow storms whipped across the National Circuit and a wind chill of -8oC was recorded. The conditions meant in was particularly tough for the twenty five competitors in open Pre-war sports-cars and drivers of Post-war roofless cars.

VSCC Ready for Race Retro : 22-24 February

The International Historic Motorsport Show ‘Race Retro’ takes place this weekend at Stoneleigh Park near Coventry, Warwickshire and as usual the VSCC will exhibit for the full three days alongside fellow historic motorsport promoters on ‘Speed Street’ in Hall 2. The VSCC adjacent to the HGPCA (Historic Grand Prix Cars Association) and opposite the Historic Motor Racing News stand (stand C36).

New Cadwell Park footbridge improves spectator access

Cadwell Park circuit owner MSV has installed a footbridge at the Lincolnshire circuit to improve access for spectators at its race events. The work was completed in time for the new season, which starts in March.

A reminder that superchargers eligible for cars taking part in Club competitions is as the list included in Appendix A of the Club’s ‘Eligibility of Cars’ document Edition 3 2007. Please note that it is mandatory that any Member wishing to use a supercharger not included on the list (be that period or modern) must obtain approval from Committee prior to fitment.

‘Spring Start’ Race Meeting, Silverstone, 20-21 April. Entries now Open!

The VSCC is pleased to announce that we are now accepting entries for the ‘Spring Start’ race meeting to be held at Silverstone over the weekend of 20 -21 April 2013.
The traditional season opener for Vintage and Historic racing in the UK, ‘Spring Start’ takes on a new format and writes a new chapter in the history books with a second day added to the meeting that will be the first live televised race meeting in the history of the VSCC (to be broadcast on Motors TV).

Over sixty competitor's enjoyed the New Year Driving Tests at Brooklands yesterday. Results will shortly be available, photographs from the event, by various photographers have been uploaded and can be viewed in 'Event Images'. Go to the 'EVENTS' menu, select New Year Driving Tests, scroll down and you will see 'Images for the New Year Driving Tests' towards the bottom of the page. Click on the first one to enlarge and then you have the choice to click through, or click on the play button to watcha slideshow of the images.

Enthusiasts of Vintage and Historic motoring make their annual pilgrimage to Paris, France next week for the annual Retromobile Show at Port Versailles (Wednesday 6 February-Sunday 10 February).
The Vintage Sports-Car Club are standing at the Bonhams Grand Palais Auction on Thursday 7 February, so if you are in town, please do come and say hello. The stand will be selling memberships so if you are with a friend who has ‘always been intending to join up’ bring them along to save the £15 joining fee.
